Welcome to the website of the Unaaq Men’s Association of Inukjuak.
The association is devoted to supporting the youth of Inukjuak by actively promoting Inuit cultural heritage within the community. The elder’s of the community play a major role in the association’s activities by passing on their knowledge, providing guidance, story-telling as well as teaching survival skills on the land. Cultural lessons are also held in the association’s newly renovated building. Lessons include kayak-making, qamutik (ski-doo sled) making, harpoon and head making as well as repairs to existing supplies given by hunters to be repaired by a team of elder’s and youth to share their knowledge and to close the gap between the generations.
By clicking on the tabs above and the links included you will learn more about the community of Inukjuak as well as the Inuit culture and heritage of our region, located in the northern region of Quebec called Nunavik.
Thank you for taking this time to learn about our community and our culture, we hope to share our news on our upcoming events and activities for your information and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
